Water treadmill in Abano Terme
Water treadmill is a tank filled with water, in which a moving canvas is installed. It is used for the rehabilitation of patients with post-traumatic and postoperative conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Water softens the load directly on the bones and cartilage, but the density of the water itself puts additional strain on the muscles, forcing them to work harder. This procedure is also effective for reducing excess body weight: during traditional running, approximately 8 calories per minute are burned, while in water running, up to 12 calories are burned.
