Cholangitis is an inflammation of the bile ducts, mainly of an infectious nature, occurring in acute or chronic form. Acute cholangitis is manifested by a sudden increase in body temperature to 38–40 °C, chills, severe sweating, severe pain in the right hypochondrium, with irradiation to the neck, right shoulder and scapula. Signs of intoxication appear, patients complain of weakness, loss of appetite, headaches, nausea with vomiting, diarrhea. The patient needs bed rest, medical fasting, taking hepatoprotectors, antispasmodics, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiparasitic drugs, infusion therapy. In some cases, plasmapheresis and/or surgical procedures are indicated.
