Neuralgia is a disease of the peripheral nerve or nerve column. The main symptom of neuralgia – is a severe pain in the nerve innervation area of a different nature: a dull, sharp, aching, shooting, tingling. The pain may be accompanied by burning sensation, redness or sweating. Most often there are cases of trigeminal neuralgia, external femoral cutaneous nerve, facial, occipital, and intercostal neuralgia. The cause of neuralgia can be a nerve injury, compression of a nerve in the presence of an aneurysm or tumor lesion, hypothermia, an infectious disease, severe acute respiratory viral infections, osteochondrosis, herpes zoster, etc. In the early stages of development, neuralgia responds well to conservative treatment (analgesics, novocaine blockades, rehabilitation of the mouth and nose, physiotherapy). If a conservative approach is ineffective, then surgical treatment is indicated.
