Once I was exactly 1 minute late for a radon bath. I was refused in a very rude manner. However, it is written everywhere that you need to arrive 10 minutes early, although I don’t understand what one minute can do and why you need to arrive earlier. The second minus is that there is practically no entertainment in the evening. For Czechs there is a movie in Czech, once a week the bar plays music and it is packed, there are rarely concerts. I was treated at the Curie sanatorium in Jáchymov at the end of January-beginning of February 2019. 2 weeks. But I’m writing a review only now, at the end of April. Why? Because they said that improvement in health would come in 2 months. But first things first. Here it must be said that back in the fall of 2018. I underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with 2 intervertebral hernias in the thoracic region. I asked the attending physician, a candidate of medical sciences, what could help in my case? He listed a whole bunch of painkillers and sanatorium-resort treatment, namely mud. I asked if radon baths would help? He answered: no. But I read about very good reviews about radon baths in the Czech Republic in the city of Jachimov and decided to take a risk. First, 3 months in advance, around November 2018, I booked through Sanatoriums.com. voucher for 2 weeks. It was a voucher with complex treatment, which included radon and other procedures of your choice. Then I independently applied for a visa and bought a plane ticket from Moscow to Karlovy Vary, which is 20 km from Jáchymov. I also ordered a transfer from the airport to the sanatorium (by the way, the return transfer, if booked directly at the sanatorium, is cheaper). Flew from Moscow on a Boeing 737 with Pobeda Airlines. I won’t talk about this scandalous airline. That’s a separate conversation. The flight lasted 2 hours. At the airport in Karlovy Vary I was met by a Czech in a car and taken to the Curie sanatorium. The town of Jáchymov is a village of 3 streets. The Curie sanatorium is located right in the center. Nearby, on the mountain, is the Behounek sanatorium. Down the street is the Radium Palace. They are all nearby. Agricola is also here, where I went to the pool with a sauna. There is one grocery store in the whole of Jáchymov. At the reception they checked me in, I paid about 1000 euros. The time was already 16:00 local time. But the doctors had already left. So they sent me to the nurse on duty. She registered me on her computer and, to my surprise, immediately sent me to a radon bath. And, somewhere around 17:00 I took my first radon bath. And the next morning I visited the doctor and she outlined all the procedures for the entire period. This included another 11 radon baths (there were 12 in total) and my choice: gas injections - 10 times, dry carbon dioxide bath - 6 times, reflex massage, underwater massage, laser. Now about the treatment in the sanatorium, since I consider this the most important , and only then about everything else. I was told that radon does not help immediately, but after 10-12 procedures. And I felt better immediately after the first procedure. Radon dilates blood vessels and somehow it becomes easier to breathe. The pain became dull. During the procedure for the first time - 15 minutes, all subsequent times - 20 minutes (but in Pyatigorsk for some reason less). After the procedure, you are wrapped in a sheet and you lie on the couch for another 10 minutes. The Czechs say that this is mandatory, but here in Russia for some reason they don’t do that. And radon baths are taken here every day, except Sunday. And in Russia - every other day. The next procedure is a dry carbon dioxide bath. You climb into a bag like a sleeping bag. The bag is tied near the neck and carbon dioxide is supplied inside. The bag is inflated and you lie there for half an hour. The effect is that the blood vessels dilate and it’s easy to breathe again. Another procedure is gas injections. This is when they inject under the skin with a syringe a small dose of carbon dioxide. But I think it needs to be injected into the sore spots. But they poked me anywhere. When I told the nurse about this, she told me that wherever they were marked, she does it there. As a result, I didn’t feel anything from these gas injections. The effect is zero. Now about the massage. All types of massage are done VERY BAD! Czechs don’t like to do massages. Just 10 minutes (we have 20 in Russia) of light stroking. I was in Anapa. There the massage therapists work to the maximum. Sometimes it even hurts a lot. But in the Czech Republic it doesn’t. People! Don't get a massage there! Conclusion: only a radon bath really helps. It’s just super! You don't have to take the rest at all. Now a little about the Curie sanatorium. A very good hotel! Clean, cozy. The rooms are small but comfortable. The food is VERY GOOD! Buffet. Lots of different meats: beef, pork, rabbit, various poultry. There are soups. They are more like broth. Very tasty coffee! There is hot chocolate, many types of tea bags. A lot of different salads, vegetable and fruit, cheese, ham, yogurt, sour cream. In general, there is a lot for every taste. The medical staff is polite, many speak Russian. There were few people from Russia in the sanatorium . Mostly they were Czechs. There were many Russians from Germany. I talked to many of them. Everyone said that treatment in the Czech Republic is inexpensive. In Germany, it’s much more expensive. And everyone has different opinions about radon baths. Some people get help, some don’t get much help, some don’t get help at all. Very little leisure time. No entertainment. For entertainment, it’s better to go to Thailand. It’s cheaper there and more interesting. But here they treated me a little and that’s okay.Positives
