This is the second time I've stayed at the Smetana villa. AMAZING. Excellent food, even trying 3 times a day (full board), I couldn’t get better. The procedures are excellent, considering the fact that you have to go up or down the mountain. The living conditions are excellent. Thanks to the hotel staff and sanatorium.com

The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food very much. And even though there wasn't that much choice, everyone could still find something for themselves. Even the ones who were vegetarian. The food was always fresh and varied. However, when we waited for supplies, it took too long and sometimes it wasn't entirely clear whether there would be anything else. The doctor took a lot of time during the admission interview to get a detailed picture of our current state of health and to prescribe the treatments accordingly. The treatments were varied and addressed our health problems and also provided some relief. The staff was friendly and equally keen to help people through their treatments. However, some massage staff didn't necessarily put in much effort. The water in the swimming pool had a great temperature of 31° so that you could swim there very well and without freezing.Negatives
Sauna area was a bit too small. The hot and cold water to stimulate blood circulation in the legs was poorly regulated and took far too long to be regulated when there were symptoms. We also didn't like that the sauna and wellness area was only open until 8 p.m.

This is our sixth time on vacation in Karlovy Vary. Unfortunately or fortunately, our Slavic culture did not allow us to use the sauna, because most representatives of other cultures were completely naked in the spa center, this greatly shocked us, although we have been living in Europe for 22 years. We were planning to come next year with our children and granddaughters... We'll probably look for an alternative.

The Smetana Hotel is a beautiful old villa, the interior is appropriate, but in our room 214, apparently after renovation, there is modern flat furniture, this makes the room completely uncomfortable

But there is a downside to an old building that requires renovation. For example, there was not enough power to heat the water, so we had to abandon half of the assigned baths. The old carpeting caused an allergic reaction in my husband.

The pool and sauna are not on the same floor, Unfortunately, the sauna was only open until 20:00. We arrived on Saturday, the doctor was only assigned to us on Monday. 23 procedures were distributed over 5 days, although we were in the sanatorium for 9 days. Access to the pool/sauna and all procedures is through the reception desk; running back and forth in the cold room is not very comfortable. There is not enough gym.

A big plus point for this sanatorium would be at least a small gym. And so that the sauna is not open until 20:00, but at least until 21:00.

Sorry, but if the doctor finds out that the man has Carona 2 days before departure then the doctor is not allowed to send me home. Insurance would have covered the additional costs. So we had to take care of the return transfer ourselves (530 euros) hopefully I didn't infect the driver. Hopefully I didn't infect the driver the hotel employees tested our conclusion: no more spa vacation in Carlsbad
