Cervicobrachialgia is a pain syndrome, localized in the cervical region and radiating to one or both upper limbs. The acute course can last up to 10 days, the pain disappears completely in a month (in 7 out of 10 cases). About chronic cervicobrachialgia can be said if pain persists for 3 months or more. The pain may have a different intensity, ranging from dull to acute shooting, it intensifies in the mornings and when making certain movements and actions: tilt, turning the neck, coughing, sneezing, etc. Often there is hypertonicity of the neck muscles: constant tension, pain on palpation, induration, convulsions. Since cervicobrachialgia does not act as an independent disease, but is a consequence of a wide range of pathologies, the treatment is aimed at eliminating the root cause. Full rest is provided to the neck, the load on the upper limbs is reduced, it is required to avoid hypothermia. When the acute period ends, prescribe physiotherapy, exercise therapy, massage, spinal traction. Drug therapy usually includes painkillers and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants, vitamins, in some cases - nitroglycerin. In rare cases, surgical treatment is performed.
