A type of arrhythmia in which there are episodes of an increase in heart rate to values of 140-220 or more per minute. These attacks occur under the action of ectopic impulses, gradually replacing the normal sinus rhythm. Attacks begin and end suddenly, have a different duration, make the heart work uneconomically, which results in circulatory failure. Symptoms of paroxysmal tachycardia: an attack begins with a palpable impulse in the heart region, the heart rate quickly rises to 140-220 beats per minute (and higher), the correct rhythm is preserved. Patients during an attack complain of dizziness, extrinsic noise in the head, constriction of the heart, sweating, nausea, flatulence. For several hours after the end of the attack is fixed polyuria. In almost all cases, paroxysmal tachycardia entails emergency hospitalization in the cardiology department; patients also need planned hospitalization. Patients are prescribed antiarrhythmic drugs, suppress tachycardia attacks with vagal maneuvers, with the ineffectiveness of drugs prescribed electropulse therapy. The doctor may prescribe anti-relapse therapy or a course of beta-blockers, in severe cases - surgical intervention.
