Epicondylitis or epicondylosis - a disease of the tissues in the elbow joint of an inflammatory and degenerative nature, which develops as a result of repeated microtraumas and overloads of the forearm muscles. External epicondylitis, for example, is often called the tennis player's elbow. The main symptoms of the disease are severe pain over the surface of the elbow joint, with extension and rotation of the hand, weakening of the muscles when grabbing. Treatment requires rest to the joint, temporary immobilization may be required, physiotherapy procedures are shown (ultrasound therapy, phonophoresis, peloidotherapy, Bernard currents), analgesics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, therapeutic blockades are performed for persistent pain lasting over 1-2 weeks. If the pain does not go away for more than 3-4 months, then it becomes an indication for surgical excision of the affected tendon sites.
