Salpingoophoritis or adnexitis - combined inflammation of the ovaries and fallopian tubes caused by streptococci, enterococci, staphylococci, gonococci, fungi, viruses, chlamydia, etc. The acute form of salpingoophoritis is characterized by severe sharp pains in the lower abdomen, radiating to the rectum and the sacrum, with chills, mucous and purulent discharges, malaise, impaired urination, abdominal distention. Sometimes accompanied by pain during menstruation or heavy periods. Symptomatology of acute salpingoophoritis persists for 7-10 days, with timely treatment, complete recovery occurs, otherwise the process takes a chronic form with periodic relapses.
