Focal or nesting alopecia is a disease of hair follicles, the main manifestation of which is a sharp or gradual loss of hair on the head, occasionally it can be accompanied by itching or a change in nails (color change, fossa formation). The affected area of the skin always has a round or oval shape, so alopecia is also called "nesting". The disease with the same frequency affects men and women, mainly under the age of 25 years. Hair may not grow for years, but there is always a chance of self-healing. Hair growth is stimulated by corticosteroids, topical minoxidil, phototherapy. Steroids are prescribed in the form of ointments, creams, lotions, oral tablets and intramuscular injections. At the spa-resort stage of treatment, phototherapy, heliotherapy, PUVA therapy, acupuncture are used.
