How is treatment carried out in Smrdaky

Features of natural healing factors
The basis of treatment at the resort is the use of healing properties of local mineral waters and mud. Mineral water comes from two springs, Josef I and Josef II, with a surface temperature of 12 °C. In 1 liter of mineral water 3400 mg of mineral substances are dissolved (sodium, magnesium and calcium prevail) and up to 680 mg of hydrogen sulfide are dissolved, which gives the water a characteristic sharpish smell.
Therapeutic sulphuric muds are formed in the process of seepage of hydrogen sulphide mineral water through wood soils. The mud is removed and sent for "maturation" in special pools for at least one year in hydrogen sulfide layer water. During this year the mud acquires a special consistency and thermal stability, which allows you to keep warm for 4 times longer than water, and to warm even the deepest parts of the body.
Procedures based on hydrogen sulphide water and mud
Mineral baths are based on water heated to 36-38 °C. The duration of the procedure is 10-15 minutes. After the procedure a short rest is required. Both general baths and local baths for upper and lower limbs are carried out. Smrdaky mineral water has anti-inflammatory and healing properties, has a beneficial effect on immunological changes in the body, soothes irritated skin and improves its elasticity. Water also prevents loss of elastin and collagen in cartilage, tendons and connective tissue.
For partial and general mud applications, a thin layer of mud with a temperature of 43-45 °C is applied to the affected body parts. The duration of the procedure is 20 minutes. Muds help to reduce local edema around the joints, relieve muscle tension and improve nutrition of intervertebral discs, cartilage and connective tissues by improving blood circulation, as well as increase anti-inflammatory activity of the body.

Phototherapy. In the summer months, guests of Smrdaky resort sunbathe in natural conditions. In bad weather and winter the balneocenter conducts a modern narrow spectral form of ultraviolet radiation application with an optimal wavelength of about 311 nm. Solar baths and artificial UV radiation are among the most effective ways to treat psoriasisa.
Kneipp therapy. The essence of therapy is to affect the human body alternately with warm and cold water. This group of treatments includes the Charkot shower and contrast foot baths (Kneipp path).
