Occupational disease characterized by pathological changes in the receptor apparatus and various parts of the central nervous system due to prolonged exposure to vibration. Most often, builders, workers in the mining, transport, aircraft and shipbuilding, mining and other industries who suffer from the use of shock and rotational instruments suffer from vibration disease. Symptoms of vibrational illness are pulling and aching pains in the arms and legs during rest and sleep, but disappearing after a short period of time after resuming work with a vibrating tool. Also symptoms include paresthesia, chilliness, whitening of fingers, vascular disorders, polyneuropathy, general malaise, irritability, headaches, trouble sleeping, tachycardia, pain in the epigastric region, asthenia, neurasthenia, hearing impairment may develop. Treatment requires the cessation of activities associated with vibration, avoid hypothermia and excessive physical exertion. Drug therapy is symptomatic, usually supplemented with vitamin complexes, glucose and calcium gluconate. Physiotherapy is prescribed, in particular, electrophoresis, UHF, reflexology, massage sessions and balneotherapy.
