In the previous time we told about healing properties of naftalan oil, about how it is extracted, in what procedures it is used and how wide its range of application is. Naftalan procedures are prescribed for more than 70 diseases, but in today's article we will talk about the most common groups of diseases.

Naftalan oil - a medical phenomenon

Naphthalana, naphthalan or naftalan oil, is a medicinal oil extracted in the city of the same name in Azerbaijan. "Oil" is more of a conventional definition than a specific designation, since it is a primary product and not a full-fledged oil in the usual sense. Azerbaijani naftalan is unique in its composition, it is a medical phenomenon in the field of mud treatment with the widest range of application.

In addition to the diseases described in the previous article (musculoskeletal system and skin) naftalan successfully treats gynecological and neurological diseases, diseases of the urogenital and cardiovascular systems. Resin-free and native naftalan are used for procedures. Resin-free naftalan is medical oil, purified from resinous compounds. The native naftalan is a natural medicine, which has more contraindications than the resin-free naftalan. It has a specific smell, but the influence is stronger and more extensive. The resin-free naftalan has better antibacterial effect compared to the native naftalan, because its content of polycyclic naphthenic hydrocarbons is not less than 98% and 2% isoparaffins. Besides, resin-free naftalan is less toxic than native naftalan; it does not irritate mucous membranes, therefore it can be successfully applied both externally and internally in the form of tampons, enemas, irrigations, for ultraphonophoresis in the form of oil inhalations, lubrications.

Gynecological diseases

Naftalan oil is a natural hormone that contains naphthenic hydrocarbons, similar in a number of ways to human hormones - androgen, estrogen and corticosteroid. Naphthenic hydrocarbons have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, vasodilatory effects on pelvic organs and on the whole body. Besides, thanks to influence of naftalan oil the metabolic processes in an organism increase intensity, the processes of ovulation and ovogenesis accelerate.

Therefore, with the help of naftalan oil you can be treated for a wide range of gynecological diseases, such as: adnexitis, salpingo-oophoritis, parametritis, perimetritis, metritis, endometritis, ovarian dysfunction, cervical erosion, amenorrhea, underdeveloped uterus, adnexitis, cervicitis, colpitis chronic and recurrent, primary and secondary sterility, climacteric syndrome, pelvic perinatal adhesions.

Naftalan oil is used for treatment of gynecological diseases in the form of procedures:

  • Vaginal tampons. These are special cotton tampons, which are generously moistened in oil-free naftalan heated up to 50-55 °С. The tampons with naftalan oil are placed into the vagina for 45-60 minutes, treatment course - 15-20 tampons.
  • Lubrication and application of naftalan oil. Natural and oil-free naftalan are used for this procedure. Local lubrications in case of gynecologic diseases are prescribed for panties area.

In addition, general baths with native naftalan may be prescribed, it all depends on the diagnosis and the presence of concomitant diseases that may be contraindications for this kind of thermal procedures.

Contraindications for treatment of gynecological diseases with naftalan oil are: pregnancy and lactation period, myomas, polyps, oncology, any diseases in acute stage, abscesses, bleeding, sexually transmitted infections.

Neurological diseases

Naftalan affects any of the problems in the body comprehensively: anti-inflammatory, resolving and desensitizing effect. That is why naftalan oil stops inflammatory processes at neurological diseases, reduces pains, improves blood circulation. The course of procedures with naftalan oil can bring long-awaited relief from neurological problems, some patients may have long, persistent remission.

Therapeutic oil can be used to treat neurological diseases such as: neuritis of facial, radial, ulnar, femoral, tibial nerves; neuralgia of intercostal, trigeminal, occipital and sciatic nerve; lumbosacral and cervical shoulder radiculitis; shoulder plexitis; mononeuropathy of upper and lower extremities; motor disorders after a stroke (possible rehabilitation not earlier than six months).

Naftalan oil is used in neurological diseases for general and local baths, for applications and lubrications. But particular efficiency is brought by application of naftalan in physiotherapy - in procedures of ultraphonophoresis. For this purpose oil-free naftalan is used as contact substance, which is placed on the skin and exposed to ultrasound of certain frequency. Micronutrients of naftalan directly affect the central nervous system and have a significant impact on tissue metabolism, by penetrating through the skin.

Contraindications for treatment of neurological diseases with naftalan oil are: mental diseases, epilepsy, rheumatism, organic diseases of central nervous system.

Diseases of the urogenital system

Through therapeutic oil can be cured such diseases of the urogenital system in men as: prostatitis (chronic nonspecific), nonspecific urethritis, male infertility, including non STD etiology, adenoma.

Naftalan therapy in urological diseases is prescribed only to patients with unexpressed inflammatory processes, i.e. in remission. It should be noted that very high positive result of treatment with naftalan gives treatment of prostatitis. The thing is that if naftalan oil acts as immunological reactivity stimulator, protective-adaptive properties strengthened in organism that is especially important at prostatitis as it is a disease of inflammatory character. Naphthenes (polycyclic naphthenic hydrocarbons), which are the part of oil-free naftalan, play very important role in metabolic processes; due to their influence the functional recovery of prostate gland.

Naftalan is applied at urological diseases in the complex of several procedures, namely:

  • Baths - depending on patient's condition, general or chamber baths.
  • Tampons, rectal pours or microclysters of oil-free naftalan - no less than 10 procedures of heated up to 42 °C naftalan are prescribed. Oil-free naftalan directly affects the prostate gland through the walls of rectum, removes inflammatory processes, improves metabolic processes and restores functions of the organ.
  • Packs or naftalan-paraffin mastic applications on the panty area - applied through heated up to 55 °C naftalan, not less than 15 procedures.

Procedures with naftalan not only improve and accelerate metabolic processes in the body, but also increase the function of spermatogenesis in men. Contraindications for treatment of diseases of urogenital system with naftalan oil are: severe kidney diseases; sexually transmitted infections; Reiter's disease in active stage; acute nephritis and nephrosis; hepatic insufficiency of any etiology.

Diseases of the cardiovascular system

Naftalan oil has beneficial effects at diseases of cardiovascular system. At pathologies of peripheral veins and atherosclerosis of arteries general and chamber baths with naftalan, lubrications and other standard procedures are prescribed. The course of treatment will depend on the severity of the disease and the general condition of the patient, as well as the presence of concomitant diseases in the anamnesis. Note that often to enhance the effect of naftalan in diseases of the cardiovascular system are appointed in addition iodobromic baths and various modern methods of physiotherapy.
