Salpingoophoritis or adnexitis - combined inflammation of the ovaries and fallopian tubes caused by streptococci, enterococci, staphylococci, gonococci, fungi, viruses, chlamydia, etc. The acute form of salpingoophoritis is characterized by severe sharp pains in the lower abdomen, radiating to the rectum and the sacrum, with chills, mucous and purulent discharges, malaise, impaired urination, abdominal distention.
