The disease is characterized by diarrhea, a pappy stool with mucus, purulence and blood, epigastric pain, fever, loss of appetite, weight loss, general malaise, joint pain, impaired water and electrolyte balance. The course of the disease is usually long, periods of exacerbation alternate with remissions.
