In Franzensbad many people speak German in the spa promenade, you can pay in € if you don't have a CZK, it's better to exchange € at the hotel in crowns. There is even a LIDL market nearby where you can stock up on drinks cheaply, but they prefer to take CZK instead of € because you only get change in CZK.
