Positives

I really liked the treatment at the sanatorium. Located in a beautiful location. The system of selection of procedures and treatment is thought out down to the last detail. Educated and polite staff. The food is completely satisfactory. I personally express my gratitude to Veronika Klucovska, the representative of the Sanatorium in Piešťany. We will recommend your services to our friends and acquaintances. Thank you very much.

Positives

Good and high-quality procedures, a positive attitude and a desire to help from the resort reception staff. Wonderful saunas and swimming pools.

Negatives

The food leaves much to be desired, especially lunch and dinner. We ate outside the resort. At $200 per room in a 4-star hotel, there was no need to charge for a kettle.

Positives

We've received a reminder from Sanatoriums.com that you can review your stay at Esplanade Resort. Since I spent my entire life in the engineering field, I will concentrate on the facts, and I’ll leave it to you to classify them as pros or cons. 1. Reception - Hall: very pleasant, smiling, responsive 2. Floors - Corridors: unusually wide, very spacious 3. “Comfort” room: it’s immediately obvious that it was equipped several decades ago, but everything is quite acceptable, except for sound insulation. Another important point that most likely caused many people a lot of trouble at night: the overhead light switch is located in the head right in the middle of one of the beds at the level where the pillow lies. On the first and second nights, the overhead lights turned on 4-5 times a night. Very unpleasant. But you can remove the top panel of the switch, which may not look very aesthetically pleasing, but allows you to sleep peacefully at night. It’s also not very clear that there is no kettle in a 4* resort hotel, where guests come not for one or two days, but usually longer and in the evenings they don’t mind drinking a cup of tea after the pool and sauna, and the offer is to rent a kettle for 4 euros in day, at a price for a double room of about 250 euros per day, looks at least petty. 4. A restaurant (in style and ambience), but in taste no higher than a third-rate canteen: you immediately notice that most of the dishes are prepared from frozen semi-finished products, and of the same cheap quality. The chef chooses starch as the main ingredient for sauces. For breakfast, only lemon and tomato juices are made from fresh juices (in 9 days I once saw tomato juice taken from the next table) - very rational for cutting costs. A chic-looking device with the inscription “taste the freshness” dispenses powder diluted with water, and at lunch only clean water. The only time the cook offered rice that looked undercooked turned out to be risoni pasta. On the next table, guests from Kazakhstan also noted that this was the only “rice” that could be eaten. I assume that you buy cheap broken rice, which is cheaper than, for example, basmati. Meat and fish dishes are surprisingly spoiled by the cook. How it was possible to bring Steamed Butterfish to such a state that it tasted drier than hake is still a challenge for me. Of the fish and meat dishes, the only edible ones were venison stew and fish twice prepared by the chef right in front of us, offered to the guests after a conversation with the manager and cook. It’s interesting that when my wife asked whether it was really so difficult to cook any potato dish deliciously, the cook’s answer was that in January potatoes are always not very tasty (literally, not a joke). I haven't eaten pasta with such pleasure for a long time. And the cabbage and beet salads really helped. It’s difficult to talk about desserts, since even in a conversation with the canteen manager and the senior chef of the shift (on the fourth day of their stay), they could not explain what they are made from and, most importantly, why (margarine cream on a sponge cake with bulletproof fondant on top, and like this every day). In principle, both the cafes on the island and in the city only have beautifully sliced defrosted cakes from wholesale suppliers (confirmed by employees in two cafes). If managers think about environmental savings (which is very welcomed by guests these days), for example, get away from expensive and tasteless jams, honey, butter, etc. in plastic, to delicious local products, then they will definitely have funds for more delicious rice and the salary of a cook who is more passionate about his work. 5. Medical center: after talking with the doctor, procedures were prescribed, which were supposed to begin every day at 7 - 7:20 am. After a request to change the time (since I don’t really want to get up so early during a vacation in winter), most of the procedures were moved to 8-10 in the morning. Breakfast is offered from 7 to 10. It’s amazing what principles the staff or programmers are guided by when setting such an algorithm for assigning procedures. The main emphasis is initially placed on electro and biotope procedures. Group sitting in a warm mineral pool also counts as a separate procedure. The two massages were done very well. Mud procedures were carried out quite sparingly, mud was applied only to part of the back, shoulder and wrist joints. There is a constant feeling that everything is designed so that you receive paid services as quickly as possible and do not overload the staff, who most likely have to work according to a “shortened” plan. 6. The pool is made thoughtfully, you can swim outdoors and sit in the warm water inside. Saunas are in good condition. 7. The fitness studio is equipped with a standard set of exercise equipment, completely sufficient for general training. All were in good working order. Yoga mats were provided upon request. This is just a short report that may help future potential guests know the details in advance and avoid disappointment. You can get a more detailed idea by reading reviews of other hotel guests or, if you dare, by visiting it yourself.

Positives

We came for the treatments which were very good. The staff were efficient & clear about how things were to be run. For instance a woman in the mirror pool stopped a couple of women, mother & daughter maybe, from chatting not noticing the very clear signs not to. I thanked her as I left. I unfortunately caught covid & so it is difficult to quantify how much better I would have felt had I been able to do the full 3 weeks. When we came 20 years ago it so clearly made me better after a difficult operation for a hip revision. Now of course I’m 20 years older & the enforced gap, despite getting treatments added, which I was grateful for, meant I haven’t come away with the same health outcomes.

Negatives

The room was good once we upgraded. The cheaper room was dark, it faced a wall, depressing & not very clean. It was supposed to be disabled friendly but the facilities were poor & dirty - the heightened seat perched on the toilet was disgustingly dirty. Why no heightened toilet? They are much more hygienic and easier to clean. Even the toilet paper was better in the upgrade - why? Are disabled people’s bottoms less worthy than able bodied ones? We were told that all the rooms adapted for disabled people were in that price range. So you discriminate against people with disabilities - why? There were laws made in the EU to at least attempt to give equal access to all people disabled or not. Given that you are bound to have more disabled people staying more often than in other hotels it seems extraordinary that this is something you still need to sort out. Has anyone tried the adapted toilets in the hotels & spa? For a person with mobility difficulties trying to get on & off a toilet where there is a basin so close to the seat is difficult & uncomfortable. The doctor we had did not listen & was not interested, for instance I tried to tell him about the drugs I take which would, had he understood arthritis, told him how severe my disease was. Both of us had to go back to get some of our treatments changed because they were not accessible to us. For instance not being able to get in & out of a bath. It was only on my third visit to one treatment that I realised it was doing me harm. Trusting doctors is not always a good idea. Our named doctor appeared to be institutionalised, bored & maybe tired. He concentrated on his computer rather than what I was trying to tell him. His language skills in English were problematic which I guess didn’t help. I was annoyed but also felt sorry for him. To be fair there was a queue of people to see the doctors but another, female doctor gave us time & really tried to understand us. As an introduction to the whole reason for being there it was very poor.

Problems with German- and Russian-speaking staff.

Positives

The sanatorium has a good medical base, which makes it possible to receive comprehensive treatment. Comfort is added by the division into male and female treatment areas. I would like to note the combination of massage after a mineral bath and the technique of a dry carbon dioxide bath. We are grateful to Veronica for her help in resolving emerging issues and for an interesting excursion.

Negatives

1. First of all, the booking site Sanatoriums.com was disappointing. Used it several times and recommended it to friends. We always paid by card upon arrival. This year they introduced a requirement for full payment upon booking, without showing any reasonable flexibility, without taking into account the National Bank limit. Even the request to split the bill by 2 (considering that there were two vacationers) was not satisfied. Why can’t you take an advance payment of 10%, even 20%, and give the opportunity to pay the rest of the amount by card on the spot. Thus, preparing for a vacation turns into a mockery and affects your health. And, if air tickets had not been purchased, they would hardly have decided to travel. 2. Not satisfied with the work of the medical unit. The package indicated the number of procedures, tests, and drinking regime. No tests were ordered, we had to find out for ourselves. The results were also taken from the doctor themselves (in other sanatoriums they invite you). Moreover, the package includes 2 doctor’s examinations (the 2nd should be final with recommendations). No one remembered the availability of drinking mineral water and recommendations. 3. It turned out that with the 42 procedures specified in the package, it was difficult to use all the possibilities, taking into account the health status and wishes of the vacationer (in reality, we received much fewer procedures). 4. At the resort reception, rescheduling the procedure for a more convenient time turned out to be a difficult problem that had never been encountered before. This also led to the impossibility of obtaining all procedures. They even performed several procedures on the day of departure, without asking if it was convenient for us, without asking the time of departure. After all, the first priority is convenience and comfort for the client. We pay for it. 5. Unfriendly attitude of the staff during some procedures (in particular, the hydromassage bath).

Positives

Very friendly staff at reception, in the dining room, in room service, during treatments. Furniture is old-fashioned, but everything is clean, that's what counts

Negatives

Room facilities: no kettle, chair on the balcony was broken, risk of injury, a small table on the balcony would be desirable

Positives

Very friendly staff, all of them, without exception. Treatment at the highest level. I have protrusions, extrusions, scoliosis, osteochondrosis, etc., etc., the procedures were prescribed as I wanted, and the schedule could also be changed without any problems. There was no shortage of procedures. The treatment helped a lot, the pain decreased greatly. I would especially like to highlight the mud wrap and spinal traction. And of course, a heated outdoor pool is the icing on the cake during the cold season :) Thanks to the girls at the reception, they helped me make an appointment for an MRI at the nearest clinic. I also want to thank the service manager Veronica, she also helped with questions and gave a tour of Piestany :) I lived in a premium room, quiet, calm, I was worried that the mattress would be uncomfortable but in vain :) my back didn’t hurt. There was a kettle, tea, coffee in the room

Negatives

Nutrition. Often the meat/poultry was too dry, making it simply impossible to chew. I also missed fresh berries/fruits. But this is more a wish, not a negative

Positives

I really liked my PREMIUM room.

Negatives

This is a good place to relax, but not for treatment! People with serious problems should not come here and hope for recovery. Nice general practitioners, some representatives of the service staff are friendly, BUT: the absence of an orthopedic doctor, the lack of manual therapy procedures, individual rehabilitation, the lack of qualifications of specialists in physiotherapeutic procedures, which can cause irreparable harm to patients due to improper use of the device, the chosen program or time the procedure being carried out. After my remark during a shock wave therapy session, I received insults addressed to me in a raised voice, which provoked a hypertensive crisis and hemorrhage in my eye. No one responded to my complaints about pain in my legs, assuring me that I would feel much better when I returned home. The symbol of this sanatorium is a man who breaks a crutch, and after this “treatment” I have to get on crutches, since my condition has become much worse. The number of procedures does not correspond to those promised when purchasing the tour and, moreover, you are offered to buy some of the necessary procedures. As for the coordinator Veronica, I don’t understand why she is needed at all - she didn’t meet me, didn’t put me up in a hotel, didn’t show up at all to explain what was going on. where and when.... I had to find out everything myself. She was only worried about whether I would be present on the excursion, so on the third day of my stay, she found me and started a scandal. I appeal to those who want to be healthy: look for good specialists, do not throw money away. But to relax and swim in the wonderful pools (which I was not able to do, since I could barely walk) - come here.

Positives

The resort is wonderful, the thermal water is super, suitable, I think, for all patients with hypersecretion and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, for orthopedic diseases and in general it is unique.

Negatives

Sometimes the hotel neighbors are noisy at night, especially when the rooms are adjacent and only the door is closed between them, they turn on the televisions loudly at night and this spoils the mood

Positives

I liked everything very much. Of course, the procedures (every day 4) are very busy, sometimes there is no time to eat, but everyone managed to do it. All medical staff are qualified and attentive. I especially want to mention Inka (sorry if I wrote it wrong) from Ward 18. The food is varied, the dishes are delicious. The order in the restaurant is exemplary! In general, the atmosphere in the sanatorium is positive, pleasant music is playing, it’s warm. Gratitude to Veronica for her care, solving all the issues that were addressed to her. I would like to come again

Positives

A good hotel, a good ballroom center, calm and friendly.

Negatives

Rather than a negative, but recommendations regarding treatment: 1. It is necessary to take a more specific approach to the selection of prescribed treatment depending on the person’s complaints and diagnosis. 2. Young little girls who are not able to perform a high-quality massage work as massage therapists in department 20. They can't do that. Although the girls themselves are friendly and pleasant. It turns out that a person pays for treatment, but does not receive it. 3. In the 7th department, the laser therapy room, there is a young, very, very lazy nurse who does not observe basic hygiene, does not put on disposable sheets and, when noticed, does not want to do this, which is very dangerous for the spread of various diseases, and does not perform the procedures as expected. He just pretends and that's it. Unlike her, all the older medical staff are very kind, friendly and do everything very well. I ask you to explain to the young medical staff that sick people come to such places with the hope of receiving medical care and treatment. If they are not ready to do this, then such people should not be allowed to work.

Positives

Excellent, friendly service from the medical staff, all procedures were provided punctually. We especially note the doctor Nadiya, the massage therapist Tibor and the therapist who gave CO2 injections. The hotel room was cleaned regularly. The food and service in the restaurant are good. In general, we were satisfied, I recommend the whole complex: treatment, accommodation and food. I really liked the conscientious attitude towards us from the Sanatoriums employee - Veronica. She organized an excellent tour of the resort and city, transfer to and from the hotel, and always tried to help. Thank you very much for everything.

Negatives

One day the toilet in the room stopped working - I had to wait a long time and ask 3 times, they fixed it in 5 minutes only after contacting the manager of the Esplanade Hotel. The restaurant did not have hot drinks (tea, coffee or just hot water) for lunch and dinner. They were only for breakfast. Sometimes the treatment schedule did not leave enough time for nutrition.

Very friendly medical and restaurant staff, unfortunately you couldn't always say that about room service. Applications were good, staff also spoke English and some also German. Requests and questions were addressed.

Negatives

I cannot say it is negative but you can do something about it. My concern is about tea and coffee services. The guests received all this and juice, water only in the morning, Thank you for that! I wished in saving purposes you could distribute drinks a bit differently. Your guests are mainly from Europe, including Arabic countries and Israel. And drinking tea or coffee in the afternoon is a part our meal. In order save money and at the same time to satisfy the guests, I’d suggest to be satisfied with let’s only with coffee, water and juice. And you can serve tea in the evenings . Whoever wants coffee, he can buy. This way everyone is satisfied. It is a friendly suggestion, to accept or not, it is your choice. Thank you.

Positives

The main thing is that two weeks of treatment helped reduce pain in the hands due to osteoarthritis. Pain in the knee and spine has decreased. I liked the outdoor pool because in my free time I could sunbathe and swim. For breakfast there are very tasty natural dairy products. Despite all the shortcomings that I have listed, I recommend this sanatorium.

Negatives

The restaurant offers Calla both comfort and premium rooms, so the advertising video needs to correct this so as not to be misleading. Lack of vegetables for dinner and lunch. Some of the staff are nervous and rude, but most of the staff are good. The schedule of procedures is not always convenient, so you have to rush between offices and the restaurant. Some patients are forced to come to the restaurant in dressing gowns in order to be on time for procedures. Gymnastics in groups is imposed as a paid procedure, which is not entirely correct in my opinion. There should be an option to replace group classes. Classes are conducted in Slovak and German, so you feel uncomfortable when you cannot understand what the teacher requires of you. The sauna needs renovation. It would be nice to have a booklet describing all the included services and the location (swimming pool, saunas...). The booklet with the times and schedule of procedures says about a resort suit, which is misleading. Please correct it to a robe or bathrobe.

Positives

Excellent location, lots of greenery, walking paths. The medical staff works clearly and in an organized manner. Veronica helped resolve issues with accommodation. Comfortable beds with good linens. New room - magnificent view from the window/balcony. Downstairs cafe there is live music in the evening.

Negatives

The service (not medical) staff is not helpful at all. The first room (suite) was in terrible condition, everything was old, no air conditioning. It looked different on the website. Thanks to Veronica, she resolved this issue. The internet did not work in the new room!!! Although the shower was new every couple of minutes, the water was either warm or hot, it was not possible to adjust. Food... Well, it may be suitable for some, my advice is for 40 euros (this is what the hotel charges for dinner) go to the city - 10 minutes walk and there are a lot of cafes and restaurants to choose from, for this money you can eat for two.

Positives

The quality of treatment meets the stated level, the staff is polite and caring. All procedures are on time. The doctor prescribed everything I needed and wanted. Dietary food, varied. The only fruits are tasteless, unripe apples and pears. The rooms correspond to the categories. The cheapest ones have very old plumbing and have a specific smell. In the renovated room category, everything is perfect, even the cosmetics are of a different class. But all rooms are air conditioned. Booking through sanatoriums is convenient. Upon arrival, the hotel did not know that I had booked full board, but I wrote to the sanatoriums and by the evening everything was resolved. Thank you A very pleasant representative at the resort, Veronica, was with her on an excursion, it’s amazing how much information there is about such a small town. Interesting! The hotel management itself was also pleasantly pleasing. A situation arose during the first week that in the next room the TV was playing loudly all night and waking me up. I asked the reception to notify my neighbor about this. I understand management in such a situation. It is difficult to reprimand one client about his habits and give another client a break. They simply changed my room, with the same view of the quiet garden, just on a different floor. Very grateful!

Negatives

Upon arrival, an appointment with a doctor was scheduled on time, but we had to wait in line for more than an hour. In general, it’s not scary on vacation, there’s still nothing to do, but the service itself is surprising in its lack of punctuality.

Positives

Excellent intensive course of treatment The sanatorium is very quiet and peaceful The food is extremely varied Physiotherapists and doctors are friendly Relatively inexpensive

Negatives

Getting from the train station is not so easy and intuitive, people don’t speak much English, so it was impossible to find out about the availability of a bus, but there are usually taxis at the station that will take you directly to the resort. In the restaurant, due to the number of guests, there were sometimes slight problems with placement; everything was not very well coordinated. When you come for the first time, you don’t know what to do, where to go and who to ask; there is no person at the entrance to explain.

Very good hotel. This is not the first time I have come and I always leave with a positive feeling, nothing but positive emotions. The treatment is excellent. The doctors are all attentive, the medical staff during the procedures is friendly. During my three-week stay I underwent 84 procedures, I can’t single out just one, all of them were necessary. Special thanks to Veronica, she supported me before my arrival and informed me about the possibility of my arrival. I also liked the compliance with anti-Covid measures. Everything is thought out about the safety of guests, beautiful and well-groomed territory, clean air. Room cleaning every day, towels changed, bathroom amenities. The food is varied. I am very glad that I rested and healed. Special thanks to the managers from the Sanatorium. Som., quickly sent reservation documents in German at my request.
