We were in this sanatorium for the 3rd time in 4 years. The difference between the sanatoriums in Piestany is that the medical buildings, thermal and mineral pools, and pump rooms are under the same roof as the hotels. Mud and mineral water are among the best in Europe for their healing properties. The quality and variety of medical procedures provided is maximum. No inhalations or therapeutic dreams, only serious procedures based on the actual diagnosis. The organization of treatment is beyond praise.

Secondly, many thanks to Sanatorium for the excellently organized feedback, the opportunity to receive answers to all questions of interest, both written and oral, in an understandable (native) language. Thanks to the company employee Milos, who met (and then drove) at Vienna airport, was very punctual, professional and told a lot of interesting things about the country during his trips. And special thanks to the representative of the Sanatorium company, Veronica, who sent a message with her contacts even before flying to Slovakia, throughout the entire vacation she really helped in resolving emerging issues, and with her excursion around the Spa Island and the center of Piestany, she simply fell in love with this city, this country . Now about my impressions. The journey from Vienna Airport takes about one and a half hours. During peak hours, apparently a little more. Resort Island, on which the sanatoriums are located (I think there are 12 of them), is surrounded on all sides by water, measures approximately 400 by 1200 meters and is a well-kept park, with paths for walking and cycling, benches, and a golf course. An ideal place for those who are tired of the bustle of the city and would like to be in silence, alone with nature. The Esplanade Health Spa Hotel currently belongs to the Ensana chain and, in principle, provides a sufficient range of services to meet the 4* category. Wi-Fi is more or less stable, the rooms have balconies. When booking a room, pay attention to the availability of air conditioning; they are not available everywhere. The food in the hotel (Galla restaurant) is very mediocre; if you come to eat delicious food (and not for treatment), you are unlikely to leave delighted. The area of swimming pools, saunas and places of rest (relaxation) is quite spacious, opening hours are from early morning until evening. In the sauna block (infrared, Finnish, steam) there is a small plunge pool, the water temperature of which is 12 degrees. A wonderful contrast after a hot sauna. The only pity is that not all users have time to read the recommendations about preliminary ablution in the shower before the font. Although it is written in four languages, including Russian. There really isn’t any Chinese, but I haven’t met them there.... Another noteworthy thing that may seem unusual to those who have just begun to get involved in water procedures in Europe is the requirement to be in the sauna without synthetic swimsuits. This is not an inclination towards nudism; on the contrary, you are given a sheet made of natural fiber, which is quite enough to cover even the most prominent body. And as a wish, remove several artificial flowers, which, as the classics wrote, do not ozone the air. And most importantly, the Balnea treatment center. It serves four hotels, which are connected to it by covered walkways; it was 400 steps from my room to the farthest treatment room. Male and female treatment rooms are separated, respectively, the staff also corresponds to this division; some procedures (mud envelope, mirror pool) are also performed without swimsuits. The level of service during the procedures is very high, completely informative, punctual, the temperature of the mud and water is as stated, rest rooms with couches where you are invited to rest in silence for 10 minutes after the procedure. The schedule of procedures is very flexible; it is possible to change it depending on the circumstances. In my opinion, the time interval between procedures (especially thermal ones) should be at least an hour and a half. The overall impression of the holiday is very positive.Negatives

This was our third treatment course at this hotel. This time a certain inconvenience arose because of the doctor, as far as I remember, Natalya Krachek. A course of 24 procedures per week was paid for immediately upon arrival at the hotel. But after receiving the schedule of procedures, I discovered that there were 2 fewer procedures scheduled. We had to spend a lot of time figuring out what was going on, first to one medical reception, they sent us to another reception, where it turned out that it was on the doctor’s prescription, then that the doctor would be there after lunch, then there was a rather long queue to see the doctor. I had to sit through it, then ask the doctor to find out what was wrong, she referred to the service that described the procedures, and then finally made the necessary changes. I stated that if the situation was not resolved, I would go to the chief physician/chief manager. I received the next schedule the next morning, with the number of procedures paid for. Only one procedure leaves a strange impression - the so-called "paraffin". At other resorts - full-fledged real paraffin, for example, in the Czech Republic - “paraffin gloves” for hands, obtained by dipping your hands into liquid paraffin. Here, the hands are wrapped in towels dipped in paraffin, and the same towels are placed under the back. They cool quickly, the result is that your back and arms are lightly lubricated with paraffin. I think this procedure requires fundamental changes. I regret that I had to leave the hotel early, on March 15, due to the coronavirus situation.

We rested at the Balnea Esplanade Sanatorium in March 2020. Everything is fine, when choosing a room - take the “premium” one, it’s not much more expensive than “comfort”, but it’s worth it. The rooms are renovated, new furniture, there is a kettle, an excellent bathroom with expensive plumbing, it's worth it. At this time the hotel is not 100% full, but this is its own charm. All procedures were selected optimally and conveniently, there was never a delay anywhere, always on time, and if you arrived early and the medical staff had the opportunity, they would invite you earlier. The hotel is large, we had to walk a lot, several times for treatments, then drink thermal water 3 times a day, at least 5 km, this does not include walking. It’s just great if the load is not enough, then there is a fitness room and a swimming pool. We absolutely loved everything, we relaxed and had a good rest. The organization sanatoriums.com is excellent, as always, this is not the first time we have used their services. Thank you to the hotel staff, everyone without exception. There are a lot of positive things. First of all, this is a Transfer without payment, a meeting with Veronica Kluchkovskaya and an introduction to the Rules and services of the hotel. Then a tour of Bathing Island and Piestany. Veronika Kluczkowska is the best thing that helps you fall in love with Piestany and Kupelny Island. We, 6 people from Dublin, found ourselves at a time when panic arose around the world due to the virus and Slovakia was closed. We lost our tickets because the airport was closed. One can only imagine what befell this girl, because she had about 100 people like us. But she planned it all so beautifully, a taxi to Austria, to the border, where the driver ordered us a taxi in Austria, an inexpensive hotel. We bought tickets from Vienna, and even while waiting to board in Vienna, Veronica continued to support us. I will say that we are touched and grateful... Next: the vacation at the sanatorium was planned simply Super! There is no queue anywhere, people warm up for hours, flowing from office to office according to time. The staff is polite, warm and welcoming, every Slovakian. Everyone speaks at least 4 languages. Doctors and all physicians are also people in their place. Especially at the reception. I would like to mention the doctor Nadia Mikutska (my last name may be misspelled, sorry). This is tolerance, high professionalism, sincerity and tact. I’ll tell the truth, the way many patients behave is simply terrible. They demand and demand, discounts, something else, they are dissatisfied with something all the time... unfortunately, mostly Russians. And doctors and service personnel silently miss all this... more Restaurants. The variety of dishes is at the highest level, tasty and fresh, healthy and also, ours, homemade. Not fish and chips...cleaned every day. Purely light. And most importantly - Silence and Nature. Park around. Well, just Very Good. My rating for everyone and everything is Great. There is no negativity... I would like to ask you to reconsider the purpose of massage for people coming on vacation, not for treatment... IT IS BETTER TO MAINTAIN HEALTH WHEN YOU ARE HEALTHY. Treatment is a different story... the person has neglected himself... . Massage in parts does not give the desired effect. A full body massage in such cases would be great!

Shallow and small swimming pool inside the building. In windy weather, I didn’t always want to swim outside. Overall the food is good, there is enough of everything. I liked that there were mostly dietary dishes. But there were a couple of days when the main dishes were too salty. Although this is very individual.

I lived in a Premium room on the 2nd floor. The room was comfortable, cleaned every day, towels changed every day, bed linen changed 1-2 times a week. Everything is great. There are two negatives: First: many vacationers do not agree with the prescription of treatment. The treatment is complex. Mud 2 times a week. They say that you can’t do it more often, but if you buy the procedure. then it is possible. I came mainly for the mud. Second: New Year's celebration. It was possible to take a schedule of events for each week. at the hotel and other hotels on Kupelny Island. On New Year's Eve there would be dinner from 18:00 to 20:00. with waiter service based on a pre-ordered 4-course menu. At the entrance to the restaurant you were given a glass of champagne. No holiday program. All programs are the same as on a regular day in the Cafe. When ordering drinks for a fee, I took a table; if you don’t order, you cost it for people with musculoskeletal problems! There were 2 performances in the cafe. As a result, all the vacationers scattered around the hotel. Everyone was left to their own devices. This is with 4 restaurants in the hotel. we stayed for two weeks. The sanatorium is located in a large park, on the river bank, it’s very pleasant to walk. There are hot springs with mineral drinking water in two places outside. The sanatorium building is bright, spacious and modern. The treatment center is huge, there is no queue for procedures, but you come at your time and they call you right away. This is the first time we have been to this kind of sanatorium, we don’t yet know what the result of the treatment will be, the doctors say in about 2 weeks you should feel improvements. The doctor’s prescription of treatment is, in my opinion, qualified. I would like to mention some of the staff: massage therapist David, in Gabriel’s inhalation room, Maria in the office gas injections, tests were done, and based on the results, doctor Natalya gave recommendations. We don’t know what concentration of thermal water is used for treatment and how many times the mud is used. The carpet on the floor in the rooms is not vacuumed very well. The water was not flowing well in the sink, they called, they fixed it, the next day the same thing happened. At first we were assigned to the Forsizia restaurant, but two days later we moved to the second floor, where the food is better. It would be better if they assigned one massage therapist to each patient; the masseuse (I don’t remember the name), a blonde girl, and an older woman treated it simply formally.
