This is not the first time I have vacationed at the sanatorium. During this stay I was very pleased with the work of the dining room. Beautiful updated interior, excellent buffet, friendly attitude of the dining room staff, wonderful new tea room (4 types of tea every day, honey, sugar, lemon, milk for tea) - it’s very nice to go to your hotel in chilly winter weather and be able to warm up with a cup of tea with honey and lemon. Each guest of the sanatorium will receive a plate of fruit upon arrival. In addition, for Christmas and New Year, each guest from the sanatorium received small souvenirs as a keepsake; folk musicians were invited to Christmas. Thanks to the management of the sanatorium for taking care of the guests. I received the most pleasant impressions from my vacation.Negatives
The sanatorium lacks a locker room with lockers for guests from Volker, who have to carry their belongings to procedures and to the dining room. I believe that the sanatorium is quite capable of organizing full-fledged New Year's parties for guests - there is room for this in the dining room. It was not very pleasant to watch for the second time on New Year’s Day the performance of the same folk group that performed on Christmas, and the artists were also late and performed for 10 minutes instead of 30 minutes. It would be much more pleasant to watch the congratulations of Father Frost and the Snow Maiden (these could be hotel employees and you won’t have to pay the invited artists), dance around the Christmas tree with them, take part in competitions, sing New Year’s songs, etc.

There are changes in the work of the sanatorium - a tea room and a salt room have been added, the restaurant now has a buffet not only for breakfast, but also for lunch and dinner. Autumn this year, as if by order, it was delayed especially for us, without rain or wind, which gave us the opportunity to walk in the mountains and enjoy the unique views from above of Karlovy Vary. The medical staff for the most part are good and kind people, they go to meet you and help you with treatment. There is a wish that in Volker there would be kettles in the rooms for guests. I would also like that when prescribing procedures (for example, I had 28 on my voucher), there would be fewer of them by name, but more in frequency for the full course of treatment. So they prescribe a lot of them, but only 3-4 procedures, explaining that they must be done, since they are restorative and health-improving, and the rest are offered to be purchased additionally if desired.

I really liked the quality of the treatment, we arrived on Sunday afternoon, but on the same day we were seen by a doctor and all procedures were prescribed. The equipment in the hospital is new and pleasant to use. The food was plentiful, but with all the pros and cons of a buffet. The room in the Walker was spacious, with a good view from the window.Negatives
From the comments, it can be noted that the room required cosmetic repairs mainly due to the covering on the floor, but as far as I know, the renovation was in progress. Walker is scheduled for release this winter.

Liked everything. Accommodation, food, procedures - everything was as stated and everything lived up to the expectation. We didn’t look for any negatives and there weren’t any, except for the fact that they called from the reception twice at 6 am and woke us up, supposedly we asked them to wake them up. And it wasn't just us. The second time it was on the day of departure, and we just wanted to sleep longer, because we had to drive home at night by car. Apparently they wrote down the room number incorrectly or mixed up the building. This is such an “innocent prank”.

Since we had previously vacationed in Astoria, my partner and I were terribly upset when we entered the room. The carpeting was all covered in black stains, there were nails sticking out in the closet, and the bedside table was worn out and had a hole in it. We went to the reception desk to ask for another room, Well, we were told that all the rooms were occupied and the mood was spoiled even more. We booked for April, of course, only Astoria, although there were also a few changes there, perhaps the cook had changed and the food was not so tasty and basically the same thing too. We hope that after the repair everything will work out.

1. There is no hairdryer in the room, we had to take it from home. 2. Considering that most come to treat the gastrointestinal tract, the food at Astoria is not entirely dietary. In the morning there are always the same smoked and boiled sausages: sausages, fatty sausages, bacon. There is not even an option to choose non-smoked. There is no diet that allows you to eat smoked foods. 3. There are too many side dishes at lunch, and not enough side dishes in the morning. 4. Vegetable dishes (boiled beets and carrots, fresh cabbage, etc.) are very often prepared with VINEGAR and mayonnaise! There is no need to do this, because we are dieters. Anyone who wants can add vinegar or mayonnaise-based sauce or vegetable oil - they are available in a wide variety. 5. The basis of dietary nutrition is steamed meat cutlet. This would be the best nutritional decision.

The impressions from the treatment and nutrition are only positive, the accommodation is excellent, even though the procedures were carried out in Astoria, a 7-minute walk is only beneficial. After my arrival, my health worsened as a result of suffering from ARVI, Dr. Andrei Belov provided effective assistance, prescribed medications and adjusted procedures for a speedy recovery, thank you very much to the doctor and all the medical staff! The nurses were also attentive, if not liking late arrivals. The restaurant staff will also take care of you and provide you with a packed lunch in case of departure. Upon check-in (Astoria reception) we asked for a double room with a balcony, for a small surcharge they provided us with a beautiful view of the main pedestrian street, but it is quiet at night (unless you do not come during the Karlovy Vary Film Festival). A wonderful option for your money!

At the beginning of the stay, the room was not fully cleaned: the room was not vacuumed, only the garbage was thrown out; after a complaint, the room began to be cleaned. Also, there was no change of bed linen after 7 days of stay; after my complaint, the linen was changed immediately. As for the food, everything was fine, only the fish dishes were cooked horribly, it was impossible to eat them. Unfortunately, they were unable to help with my problem with knee pain.

The excellent location of the Astoria sanatorium in Karlovy Vary, especially the Volker hotel: despite the center of the resort, there is peace and quiet in the spa hotel, no one walks along the corridors. Astoria provides medical treatment and nutrition, so there is constant movement there. But there is a wonderful tea room there, which, I think, was visited by all vacationers from Russia. We vacationed at the Wolker Spa Hotel from June 15 to June 29, 2018. We liked everything: very convenient location of the hotel, large room, daily cleaning, safe in the room.
