A note about the hotel's Wi-Fi. We live in the 21st century!!!! Every vacationer, regardless of age, needs free access to the Internet. This hotel has Wi-Fi in a certain area. This is inconvenient for both those who use it and those who rest in the room after the procedure. Since the audibility of communication on the Internet (Skype, Viber) can be heard on four floors! The strange behavior of the catering workers is annoying. They remove food from the common table (salads, chopped vegetables) without asking those present in the restaurant who else is eating. Although there are still 20-25 minutes before the end of dinner (according to schedule). Several people from the staff are rude, swear, always dissatisfied with something))) It was somehow funny and strange to watch all this. Having stayed in the sanatorium for 10 days, we find out that for breakfast you can order an omelet or fried egg. You can also ask for honey!!! This was the first time I encountered this, so it caused bewilderment.... Honey, preserves, jams, etc.. everything in individual packages was ALWAYS and in ALL hotels freely available at breakfast (buffet))))). Personally, I have a calm attitude towards food (I’m a vegan and I just don’t eat a lot of things), but my neighbors at the table were very irritated by all of the above points.

We have been vacationing in Astoria every year since 2008. We tried to change to 4*, but again returned to our beloved Astoria. The price/quality ratio is good. The treatment was very good. Doctor Lyudmila Stoklaskova is above all praise. An attentive, very intelligent and responsive woman. The food at the sanatorium has become much tastier, and the restaurant staff is attentive.Negatives
No Wi-Fi in the rooms. The room stock is a little old, not all rooms are comfortable. But this does not particularly affect your stay in the sanatorium.

Wonderful environment for Russian speakers. Almost all the staff, including maids and waitresses, speak Russian and are infinitely patient and friendly. I was fascinated by the masseuse (to my shame, I don’t know the name - classic.mass.part.-6), who, after a professionally performed massage, affectionately said: “Get up quickly, so that your head doesn’t spin.” Order, cleanliness in the rooms, snow-white bed linen and towels. I was there in December, the sanatorium was not overcrowded, perhaps that’s why they were always helpful if it was necessary to reschedule procedures, which were always carried out efficiently. The location couldn't be better. Three channels of Russian television, an electronic alarm clock in the room, liquid soap and a small soap in the bathroom. The table has become more varied and the dishes tastier. The rooms are 4* clean, they are cleaned quickly and efficiently, the request for a suddenly burned out light bulb was quickly fulfilled. With the appointment of a new manager the staff have become much friendlier. Special thanks to Irina Sieglova for the brilliant organization of booking and accommodation. The excellent location of the sanatorium near the Mill Colonnade, medicinal water and dietary nutrition are very helpful in treating the stomach. I like the efficiency of the medical staff in the sanatorium. All the procedures prescribed for me took place in the same building, I don’t have to go far anywhere. I also liked going on excursions on weekends , I saw a lot. I would really like to come back here. The city of Karlovy Vary itself is very beautiful, you can walk and admire the beautiful buildings.

On the day of arrival, we were unpleasantly surprised by the behavior of the administrator at the reception. The receiving administrator was not in the mood, the decoration was made as if it were not people standing in front of the administrator, but an empty place. Change of towels in rooms only 2 times a week. Even the request to change the towel was refused by the maid. Bed linen changed 1 time in 11 days. Very small single rooms, increased audibility both from the street and from neighboring rooms, neighbors snoring, a loud TV in the next room, music from the street, all these factors make it very difficult to have a good rest. Not very kind medical staff, modest food (in the ratings there are only good or bad options...average, I would say), Wi-Fi only in the common room. Even dressing gowns are not provided, which is a common practice in other sanatoriums in Karlovy Vary.

Sanatorium Astoria provides excellent conditions for relaxation and treatment. The rooms are of a decent standard, the food is excellent - breakfast is a fairly varied buffet, lunch and dinner - made to order, a large selection of dishes. Intensive treatment - a sufficient number of procedures. The sanatorium has a favorable location - close to many mineral water sources. In my opinion, the Astoria sanatorium is not inferior to four-star options. In addition, Karlovy Vary has excellent walking conditions: interesting walking routes start from different points of the city.
