Karlovy Vary is a great place for treatment, relaxation and just a pleasant pastime. In the relatively small resort area itself, within walking distance there are drinking mineral springs, varied in style, affordability and architecture, many hotels and spas, restaurants and bars, beautiful shops and city and forest paths for walking. Walking around this city is a great pleasure. The Krivan Hotel has been a place of rest and treatment for our family for many years now. The combination of relatively inexpensive accommodation with the right variety of medical procedures and good dietary nutrition is all that is needed to gain strength and improve your health. Thanks to the hotel director for maintaining all this. I dream of coming here again next year for a longer stay. I'm sure I won't regret it.Negatives
The only personal remark is the schedule of procedures, which is not always convenient for those who are treated here. It often conflicts with the drinking regime and the breakfast and lunch schedule. But it is possible that this cannot be avoided, especially when the number of procedures is quite intense and they are all only before 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

But there was something I didn’t like. Firstly, there are problems with the German language everywhere, although all advertisements say that the employees speak German. My friend was German and she constantly asked me for a transfer. We really didn’t like lunch and dinner. It’s good that there is soup every day, but almost always we tried it and left it with a lot of salt. Only a few times we were satisfied. It is also advisable to diversify salads. Honey. The staff is overworked, so they are often in a hurry and there is no proper attention.

Unfortunately, the food is tasteless and not always fresh. No variety! Portions are small. I practically didn’t see any fruits, as well as fresh vegetables. I found midges in the compote, and they were in the entire container from which the compote/water was poured into the glass. I bought a ticket to treat my back. The mattress in the room was terribly hard, so for the first night I had to inflate the mattress, which fortunately was in my car. There is no mat in the shower stall in the room, which increases the risk of falling. It was very slippery. Thin and hard towels.

This hotel was chosen due to the presence of a nutritionist and the gluten-free diet described in the advertisement. In fact, it turned out that there was no food suitable for me as a person suffering from celiac disease. We had to return dishes several times and this did not always find a positive response from the staff, or the kitchen workers did not understand what was going on at all. The menu is very limited, the quality of the products is low and, as a rule, there was not a single dish that was gluten free. I left hungry and ate outside the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Staff was VERY friendly and always helpful. The food was delicious and perfect for people with digestive problems. But what I was missing...small signs describing the food. I was there after Gallenope and absolutely had to know what kind of food it was, what soup it was, whether there was compote or juice. Everyone was assigned a table. We were unlucky with the spa treatments. The doctor refused all spa treatments for my husband because he was not allowed to have them because of his acute illness. A piece of advice to anyone who is sick: It is better to ask before booking whether you will receive the spa treatments. BUT we received a full refund for the spa treatments we paid for without any problems. Another piece of advice from us: get to the restaurant a little earlier. The food is cleaned up half an hour before closing time. Unfortunately, we couldn't use the privately paid treatments in this hotel because the hotel was fully booked and there was only time for the guests who received spa treatments. That's why we had to go to the salt cave, swimming pool and massages in the other hotels.
